Ardmore Oklahoma Facts

• The name Ardmore is Gaelic for high grounds or hills
• Haliburton and Noble Energy companies were started in Ardmore
• A 1915 disaster killed 45 people (railroad car containing casing gas exploded in downtown)
• A 1966 plane crash killed 83 people just outside Ardmore
• In the early 1900′s Ardmore was known as the world’s largest inland cotton port
